Frank Gonzalez (on the right)
Frank Gonzalez, Artist and Educator,
is dedicated to helping people of all ages discover their creative
potential. Frank is well known in the Burlington area for his workshops
and residencies in local schools. He was born in Pasadena, California
where he attended a John Dewey School in the 30's. This early educational
experience helped to form the foundation of his educational perspective:
that of respecting the unique creativity which is innate for every
human being. In Burlington, Frank has helped to bring to light the
legacy of John Dewey, who was born in Burlington and contributed to
the development of educational philosophy world-wide. In 1977, Frank
founded and directed the Learning Tree, a center for creativity in
the arts and education in Shelburne, Vermont. His visual works include
murals, paintings, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, masks, puppets, kites
gliders, hot air balloons. Frank currently travels and teaches in
Vermont, California and Ecuador.
Jeanne Plo has a Bachelors of Science in Art Education and
a Masters of Education from the University of Vermont. She also
has a Masters in Psychology from Goddard College. Jeanne is licensed
in the State of Vermont as a Level II Professional Educator with
a specialty in Art Education K-12. She currently offers workshops
exploring the aesthetics of painting from an Asian perspective as
well as Sumi-e, a Japanese form of Brush Painting. For the last
10 years, Jeanne has directed Creative Quest, a summer arts camp.
In addition to her work as an art educator, Jeanne uses the expressive
arts in her practice of mental health counseling at Pathways to
Well Being in Burlington, Vermont.
